Sambalpur, Sept 6: A 40-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband near Sen Park in Odisha’s Sambalpur on Saturday night, with police suspecting that the crime was linked to his doubts about her alleged relationship with another man.
The deceased has been identified as Heena Begum, wife of Syed Samsad Ali.
According to Additional SP Ajay Mishra, Syed allegedly suspected Heena of having an extramarital relationship. The couple reportedly had an argument on Saturday evening when Heena had gone out for a walk.
During the altercation, Syed allegedly attacked Heena with a knife and later struck her on the head with a nearby paver block. She died at the spot.
Following the incident, Syed surrendered at the Town Police Station and allegedly confessed to the crime.
Police have seized the knife allegedly used in the attack and the paver block from the crime scene. Further investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
