Sambalpur, Aug 26: Sambalpur is set to host a new campus of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), announced Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo during the university’s 64th Foundation Day celebrations.
The minister revealed that alongside Sambalpur, new agricultural colleges will be established in Mayurbhanj and Berhampur, while Sonepur will see the launch of a Fisheries and Animal Resources College. He further informed that an official team will soon visit Sambalpur to finalise the site for the upcoming campus.
During the event, Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati honoured 33 progressive farmers from across the state for their achievements. To support digital learning and research, the OUAT campus was also declared fully Wi-Fi enabled.
Addressing the gathering, Singh Deo encouraged farmers to reduce dependency on chemical fertilisers and shift towards organic farming. He highlighted the growing export potential of millets and high-quality produce, emphasising that sustainable practices would benefit both farmers and the state’s agricultural economy.
