Mumbai: Veteran actor Nana Patekar’s final screen appearance is expected to be in Shakti Shalini, the upcoming horror-comedy from Maddock Films. Following the actor’s death on October 8, 2026, the film has taken on special significance, with director Aditya Sarpotdar saying he wants the project to serve as a fitting tribute to the celebrated performer.

Patekar had completed shooting his portions for the film in May 2026. However, he remained involved in the project’s progress and was keen to watch the final edit and return for additional dubbing work.

In an interview, Sarpotdar recalled speaking to Patekar just days before his death. The actor was reportedly looking forward to seeing the completed version of the film and remained enthusiastic about contributing further to the project.

The director described Patekar as someone who went beyond simply performing his role. He actively participated in the creative process, offering suggestions on dialogues, interacting with writers and helping fellow actors improve their performances.

A Final Film That Becomes an Unfinished Goodbye

Shakti Shalini, starring Aneet Padda, is part of Maddock Films’ popular horror-comedy universe. The film is expected to release in 2027, although its final release schedule remains subject to confirmation.

Speaking about Patekar’s final project, Sarpotdar expressed sadness that the actor would not get to see the finished film. He said the experience had become particularly emotional because Patekar had been deeply invested in making the project better.

Although Shakti Shalini is expected to be his final screen appearance, it is not the only film featuring the actor that audiences are yet to see. His other pending projects include Eetha, a biographical drama featuring Shraddha Kapoor, and The Confession of Mary, directed by Ananth Mahadevan.
