Royal Enfield has officially introduced the Himalayan 440 in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.29 lakh. Celebrating a decade of this famous adventure nameplate, the manufacturer showcased the new motorcycle at the inaugural Himalayan Basecamp event in Ladakh. Bookings are now live across all company showrooms and their official digital platform. This launch taps into India's growing fascination with off-road exploration, a trend that has rapidly expanded over the last ten years. Powering this updated machine is a new 443cc, single-cylinder, long-stroke engine. It generates 25.4bhp at 6,250rpm alongside 34Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Engineers paired this motor with a brand-new six-speed gearbox. Shorter early gear ratios make low-speed handling smoother, while the added sixth gear ensures relaxed highway cruising.

Visually, the motorcycle retains the functional, upright proportions of the original 411 model. It features an 800mm seat height for better accessibility and a 15-litre fuel tank for long-distance travel. Front illumination relies on a fresh LED headlamp, while the cockpit displays information through a digital-analogue setup. Riders also get Tripper navigation and a handy USB Type-C charging port. Handling tricky terrain relies on a half-duplex split-cradle frame and a generous ground clearance of 220mm. The suspension system combines 41mm telescopic front forks offering 200mm of travel with a rear monoshock providing 180mm of wheel travel. This setup rides on a 21-inch front spoke wheel and a 17-inch rear spoke wheel. Stopping power comes from a larger 300mm front disc with a two-piston floating caliper and a 240mm rear disc. Switchable dual-channel ABS gives riders complete control on loose surfaces like snow or slush.
