Bhubaneswar, Aug 4: A road rage incident took a violent turn in the capital on Tuesday after a dispute over a vehicle collision allegedly caused by wrong-side driving escalated into a fierce clash at Nandan Vihar Chhak under the Infocity police station limits.
According to reports, an argument between two groups following the collision soon turned into a physical altercation. The situation worsened when some individuals allegedly attacked the other group with iron rods in the middle of the road. An Ertiga car was also vandalised during the violence.
At least two persons sustained injuries in the attack and were shifted to Capital Hospital by the police for treatment.
The clash continued for nearly 30 minutes, creating panic among commuters and locals as Nandan Vihar Chhak turned into a virtual battleground.
On receiving information, six PCR vans along with the local police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Police have detained several youths from the scene and are questioning them at the police station.
The exact cause of the clash and the identities of those involved are being verified. Further investigation is underway.
