Bhubaneswar, October 3: Being invited as the Guest of Honour at one’s own school or college is among the greatest honours in a person’s lifetime, said Inspector General of Police (IGP), Central Range, Cuttack, Dr Satyajit Naik.
Dr Naik was addressing the Pravesh Utsav 2026-27 organised at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar.
Recalling his student days at OUAT, Dr Naik became emotional as he returned to his alma mater, this time not as a student but as the Guest of Honour.
“Returning to OUAT, not as a student but as the Guest of Honour, is truly an emotional moment for me,” he said.
Dr Naik recalled that he had studied as a B.Sc. Veterinary student at OUAT during 1996-99. He said the university had played a crucial role in shaping his personality and instilling in him the spirit of serving the nation.
“OUAT gave me the foundation for life. The environment here taught me not only academics but also the values and attitude needed to lead a meaningful life,” he said.
Reflecting on his journey from a student at OUAT to an IPS officer, Dr Naik said he had learnt a great deal from the institution and its corridors. He credited the university with providing him with the foundation that helped shape his professional and personal journey.
Addressing the freshers, Dr Naik encouraged them to make thoughtful choices and remain committed to their goals.
“Your circumstances may shape your beginning, but your choices will shape your journey,” he told the students.
He also extended his best wishes to the newly admitted students of OUAT’s Pravesh Utsav 2026-27 batch, urging them to make the most of their time at the university and work towards building a bright future.
