Nayagarh, Mar 2: The body of a retired police official was recovered from Gopalprasad village in Badasahar GP, was discovered in the Banamalipur jungle under the Khandapada police station limits early this morning.
The accused has been identified Somanath Pattnaik.
Somanath had been missing for six days since he left to fetch an LPG cylinder from Khandapada on Wednesday morning. His wife, Anusaya, filed an FIR with the Fategarh police stating that Somanath had called to report his cycle and bag being stolen by miscreants shortly after leaving home, after which his phone was switched off.
Villagers found Somanath's body in the jungle while attending to nature's call this morning and promptly informed the family. While the cause of death remains unknown, family members suspect foul play and have urged for a thorough investigation into the matter. A police team has arrived at the scene to commence investigations.
