Bhubaneswar, Aug 2: Noted senior journalist and Retired HoD of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Berhampur University, Dr Pradeep Mahapatra passed away on Friday morning. He was 69.
He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the Capital city.
Dr Mahapatra fell ill a few days back and was brought from Berhampur to Bhubaneswar for treatment. He was diagnosed with a critical stage of pneumonia. While undergoing treatment at this private facility, his condition deteriorated leading him to be put on ventilator support.
During treatment, he suffered a cardiac arrest and sustained serious damage to his brain.
Dr Mahapatra was associated with various publications and wrote regular columns in both Odia and English.
His death has been condoled by students, teachers, staff members of Berhampur University. Odisha media fraternity has also condoled his untimely demise.
