Bhubaneswar, Sept 18: Renowned Odia music director Abhijit Majumdar, who has been undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for the past 14 days, is scheduled to undergo a repeat brain MRI today as part of his ongoing treatment.
According to the latest medical update from AIIMS, Majumdar’s pneumonia infection is showing signs of improvement, and he is being gradually weaned off ventilator support. However, his neurological condition remains unchanged, and he continues to be in a comatose state. Despite these challenges, there is hope as he is steadily recovering from the pneumonia infection.
The medical team, led by ICU and ECMO specialist Dr. Srikant Behera, is carefully monitoring his condition and providing the necessary care. Notably, there has been positive progress in Majumdar's kidney and liver functions, both of which have shown improvement. The repeat brain MRI today will help assess his progress and guide any adjustments to his treatment.
Majumdar, a prolific music composer, was admitted to the emergency department of AIIMS Bhubaneswar on September 4 in a comatose state, requiring immediate ventilator support. He was later transferred to the ICU for comprehensive care.
The celebrated music director has an impressive portfolio, having composed over 700 songs for Odia and Sambalpuri films and albums. Some of his notable works include Love Story, Sister Sridevi, Golmaal Love, Sundargarh Ra Salman Khan, and Sriman Surdas.
