In response to the catastrophic floods that have devastated large parts of Punjab, Reliance has launched a comprehensive, ten-point humanitarian mission to provide urgent aid to the region's hardest-hit communities. Mobilizing the full force of its ecosystem—including Reliance Foundation, Vantara, Reliance Retail, and Jio—the multi-pronged effort is delivering critical support for nutrition, shelter, public health, and animal welfare, reaching over 10,000 families in the most affected villages.
The core of the on-ground response is a massive effort to address the immediate needs of displaced and vulnerable families, particularly in the severely impacted areas of Amritsar and Sultanpur Lodhi. To combat food insecurity, the mission includes the distribution of dry ration kits with essential supplies for 10,000 families, alongside direct financial assistance in the form of ₹5,000 vouchers for 1,000 of the most vulnerable households, such as those led by single women or the elderly.
Beyond individual aid, Reliance is also providing dry rations to support community kitchens, ensuring immediate nourishment is available to entire communities. Recognizing the critical need for safe drinking water in waterlogged areas, teams are deploying portable water filters. This is complemented by the distribution of emergency shelter kits containing tarpaulins, groundsheets, and bedding to protect families who have lost their homes, as well as sanitation kits and health awareness sessions to prevent the outbreak of post-flood diseases.
In a unique and vital component of the relief effort, the mission extends extensive support to the region's distressed animal population. Veterinary surveys have revealed that livestock are in severe distress, and a dedicated team from Reliance Foundation and Vantara is working directly with the state's Animal Husbandry Department to provide urgent care. This includes setting up livestock camps for medical treatment and vaccination, and the distribution of 3,000 silage bundles to provide feed for nearly 5,000 cattle.
Furthermore, Vantara, known for its expertise in animal rescue, has deployed a 50-member expert team equipped with modern rescue gear. This team is not only treating rescued animals but is also coordinating with local authorities to ensure the dignified and scientific cremation of deceased animals, a critical step in preventing potential disease outbreaks.
This holistic relief operation is a powerful demonstration of a coordinated, multi-entity effort. The Jio Punjab team worked tirelessly in coordination with NDRF to restore network connectivity in the flood-affected zones, ensuring that a reliable communication network was available for both residents and rescue teams. Simultaneously, the Reliance Retail team is managing the logistics of dispatching meticulously curated relief kits containing 21 essential items for nourishment and hygiene.
The entire operation is being conducted in close collaboration with District Administrations and local Panchayats to ensure that aid is delivered effectively to those who need it most. As Shri Anant Ambani, Director at Reliance Industries Limited, stated, "The entire Reliance family is standing with them... We are committed to walk alongside Punjab through this difficult time." This commitment underscores a deep-seated belief in collective action and a pledge to support the state's comprehensive recovery.
