Cuttack Road, March 15: Reckless driving of buses and auto rickshaws to pick up passengers causing frequent accidents in Bhubaneswar city. Private buses and autos overtaking each other or other private vehicles have been giving a terrifying time to other commuters.
The reckless driving habit of auto-rickshaws drivers is a common sight in most of the localities in the city.
Most of the auto-drivers are violating the traffic norms by stopping the vehicle in the middle of the roads. However, the enforcement authorities have turned blind eye on the violators.
The Cuttack Road in the city is most prone to accidents due to reckless driving and stopping of buses and auto rickshaws in the middle of the roads to pick up passengers.
According to reports, over 100 buses are plying between Cuttack and Puri through Cuttack Road. The stretch from Rasulgarh to Samantarapur is always crowded as a business hub. Running of over hundreds of buses on the busy road with stoppages at Bomikhal, Jharpada Over Bridge, Laxmisagar, Station Square, Luis Road, Rabi Takies, Garage Chhak and Samantarapur causes several accidents.
