Rayagada Railway Division starts functioning from today

Bhubaneswar, June 1: The newly created Rayagada Railway Division of East Coast Railway commenced functioning from today, marking a significant milestone in strengthening railway administration and operations across South Odisha and adjoining regions.

With the operationalisation of the division, all designated administrative, operating and technical functions have been formally taken over by the new divisional set up. Train Control offices, control boards and associated operational monitoring systems have become functional, enabling independent control and regulation of train operations within the jurisdiction of the division. The transfer of operational, technical and administrative responsibilities from the parent divisions has been completed smoothly, ensuring seamless continuity of train services.

The division is headed by Amitabh Singhal, an Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) officer of the 1995 batch and a graduate in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from NIT Tiruchirappalli. During his distinguished railway career, he has been associated with several landmark rolling stock initiatives, including the Vande Bharat Express (Train-18) project.

He has also been honoured with various awards and recognitions for his professional excellence and contributions to Indian Railways. He will lead the new division with the support of officers and railway staff in strengthening operations, infrastructure development and service delivery across the region.

The establishment of Rayagada Division brings railway administration closer to field units and operational centres, facilitating quicker decision making, enhanced monitoring of train operations, improved asset management and more effective coordination with State Government agencies, industries and other stakeholders.

Strategically located in an important mineral, industrial and tribal region of the country, the division is expected to play a vital role in strengthening freight transportation, improving connectivity and accelerating the execution of railway infrastructure projects across its jurisdiction.
