Vadodara, Jan 5: Young Aashirwad Swain made his Ranji Trophy debut as Odisha won the toss and elected to field first against Baroda at Motibaug Cricket Ground, here on Friday.
Swain received the Odisha Cap from Dinesh Mongia, former Team India all-rounder and Head Coach of Odisha Senior Men's Team.
At stumps on Day 1, Baroda were 322/6 in 88 overs in their first innings, with Mitesh Patel unbeaten on 94. The other Baroda batter who impressed during the first day play was J K Singh, who put up a fighting 73.
For Odisha, Debabrata Pradhan (1/48) and Govinda Poddar (1/50), did shine with the bat.
