Bhubaneswar, July 31: Development Commissioner Anu Garg today submitted the official report on the Puri Saradhabali stampede to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The report comes after a month-long investigation into the tragic incident that resulted in the loss of three lives.
According to official sources, all hearings related to the incident were concluded by July 30. The findings are currently being compiled, with the Development Commissioner holding final discussions with members of the inquiry committee before submitting the report.
The stampede occurred in the early hours of June 29, around 4:30 AM, near the Shree Gundicha Temple in Puri. A massive crowd had gathered for the darshan of Lord Jagannath during, resulting in panic and a deadly rush. Three devotees died in the chaos, prompting immediate concern from the state government.
In response, Chief Minister Majhi ordered a high-level administrative inquiry, directing that the investigation be completed within a month. The inquiry, headed by Anu Garg, included multiple witness hearings conducted at the Puri Circuit House.
With the submission deadline having passed on Wednesday, the final report is now expected imminently. The state government is likely to take further action based on the findings and recommendations outlined in the report.
