Puri, June 27: While the Grand Road (Bada Danda) was floating with ocean of devotees on account of the divine Rath Yatra on Friday, the Nandighosh Rath, the holy chariot of Lord Jagannath that usually catches the eyeballs of visitors, halted a few yards away from the Singha Dwara (Lions Gate) of the Shree Jagannath Temple.
The Nandighosh could not proceed more towards its destination i.e the Gundicha Temple as the chariot set up its journey late in the evening owing to the delayed turn of the Balabhadra’s chariot on the Grand Road.
Responding to the reporters’ queries, Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple (SJTA) Dr. Aravind Padhee said, everything was alright. All basic rituals had begun on time and were performed duly. However, more time was spared for turning the Taladhwaj Rath en route the Gundicha Temple amid sea of crowd.
Similarly, Odisha Law Minister Prithwiraj Harichandan said that overcrowded Grand Road somehow delayed the process of chariot pulling, so the delay in pulling of the Nandighosh.
Congregation of almost 1.5 times more vistors than the previous years deviated car pulling today, he added.
