Puri, July 7: The holy Trinity in Odisha’s Puri shrine on Sunday stepped out for chariots, parked on the Grand Road for a 9-day sojourn the Shri Gundicha Jatra (Rath Yatra).
The Deities Shri Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra, accompamied by the Chakraraj Sudarshan came one by one to their respective chariots on a ceremonial procession called Dhadi Pahandi.
According to the rituals, the Chakraraj Sudarshan was brought onboard the Devadalan Chariot of the Goddess Subhadra afer the sanctification of the three chariots. Follwing this, Lord Balabhadra stepped out for his rath and came onboard, the Taladhwaj Rath among scores of servitors. Later, Goddess Subhadra was carried to her Rath Debadalan following a ceremonial procession by her core servitors. Lord Jagannth, following the Patitapaban Darshan rituals, was taken to his Nandighosh Rath on a grand ceremonial procession in the presence of tens of thousands of devotees present on the Puri Grand Road.
As the Pahandi Bije rituals will conclude, the Royal Moping rituals (Chhera Panhara Niti) will be followed.
