Cuttack, Jan 5: In a major development in the Shubhamitra murder case, police have taken Deepak Rout, the main accused, into custody for one day. The Khuntuni police will question him further as part of the ongoing investigation.

During this remand, police plan to look deeper into the mysterious death of Deepak Rout's first wife, Aparna Priyadarshini. Her death was originally thought to be an accident, but investigators now suspect it may have been a murder. This new angle could lead to important discoveries during the interrogation.

Deepak Rout has been linked to both the Shubhamitra murder case and the death of his wife. Aparna died on March 17, 2002, in a car accident while traveling from Dhenkanal to Bhubaneswar. Deepak had told the police at the time that her death was the result of an accident near Radhakishorepur, under the Khuntuni police station area.

However, Aparna’s family later claimed that her death was not accidental and may have been a murder. They raised suspicions, which led to a renewed investigation. As a result, the police have now included the earlier investigating officer and the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) in the probe.

To get to the truth, police may even conduct a lie detection test on Deepak Rout if they believe it could help with the investigation. The case has taken a new turn, and authorities are working hard to uncover all the details behind these deaths.
