Wayanad, Kerala, November 10: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, candidate for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, led an energetic roadshow in the constituency on Sunday. During her campaign, she expressed her happiness and gratitude for the local support, particularly highlighting her outreach to the Christian community. Priyanka assured residents that she would champion their needs, stating, "People have given me a lot of love and affection... I will discuss with [the Christian community], understand properly, and support them as I do for everyone."
In support of her campaign, Congress leader Sachin Pilot predicted a “historic victory” for Priyanka in Wayanad. He noted strong unity among the Congress and United Democratic Front (UDF) members, alongside a positive public response. Pilot further expressed optimism that Priyanka's potential win would strengthen Congress in Parliament, working in alignment with Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to challenge the BJP and NDA.
Wayanad, a Congress bastion, will see Priyanka face off against BJP’s Navya Haridas and Sathyan Mokeri from the Left alliance in the November 13 by-election. The contest follows Rahul Gandhi’s decision to vacate the Wayanad seat after retaining Rae Bareli in the recent general elections.
