New Delhi, Sept 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha on September 27 as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Seva Paksha initiative. During his visit, he is expected to address a public rally in Berhampur, though the final schedule is yet to be announced. This visit is seen as a crucial political move for the BJP, aligning with the ongoing nationwide Seva Paksha outreach campaign.

Seva Paksha, which takes place annually to mark Modi's birthday, focuses on social service initiatives and welfare activities across constituencies. In Odisha, party workers are gearing up to host blood donation camps, health check-ups, sanitation drives, and community assistance programs over the course of the fortnight. The Prime Minister's potential participation in Berhampur is anticipated to highlight these initiatives and further solidify the BJP’s grassroots presence.

Before his Odisha visit, the Prime Minister will travel to the Northeast. On Saturday, he will make his first visit to Manipur since the ethnic violence in May 2023, where he is expected to inaugurate several development projects worth over Rs 7,300 crore. These projects include the new Manipur Police Headquarters, a civil secretariat, and an IT hub.

The Odisha visit comes in the midst of Modi’s packed itinerary in the eastern and northeastern regions. Today, he is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects worth over Rs 9,000 crore in Mizoram, including the Bairabi–Sairang railway line, which will connect Aizawl to the national railway network. He will also launch new train services connecting Mizoram with Delhi, Guwahati, and Kolkata. Notably, his visit to Churachandpur will mark the first time a Prime Minister has visited the town since Rajiv Gandhi in 1988.

After Manipur, PM Modi will head to Guwahati to attend the centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and to launch Rs 18,000 crore worth of projects in Assam. His visit will also include the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference in Kolkata and major project launches in Bihar, such as a Rs 25,000 crore thermal power plant in Pirpainti.
