New Delhi, Aug 30: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.
“Best wishes to all the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The festival symbolizes the undying love of brother and sister," tweeted the President.
Taking to the social media site, the Prime Minister tweeted, "Happy Raksha Bandhan to all my family members. This auspicious festival dedicated to the unbreakable trust and immense love between sister and brother is a sacred reflection of our culture."
"I wish, this festival deepens the spirit of affection, harmony, and harmony in everyone's life," he said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to Twitter to extend his warm wishes to the countrymen.
Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Shravana. Raksha Bandhan, the unique bond between a brother and sister, is being celebrated across the country today. On the occasion, the sister ties a rakhi (a sacred thread) around the wrist of her brother and prays for his long and happy life while the brother promises to protect her in need and trouble.
