New Delhi, June 26: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday visited veteran Jharkhand leader and former Chief Minister Shibu Soren, who is currently undergoing treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the national capital. During her visit, the President met with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Shibu Soren’s son, and inquired about his father’s health condition.
In an official statement shared on the President of India's X handle, it was noted, “President Droupadi Murmu visited the ailing former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Shibu Soren, at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. She met Shri Soren's son and Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Hemant Soren, and enquired about Shri Shibu Soren's health.”
Shibu Soren, a senior tribal leader and founding figure of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was recently appointed as the ‘Founder Patron’ of the party during its 13th ‘Mahaadhiveshan’ held in April this year. Hemant Soren was elected as the new president of the party at the same event.
Earlier in the day, President Murmu inaugurated the Sir Ganga Ram Cancer Centre in Delhi. The facility is designed to offer comprehensive care to cancer patients. As part of the inauguration, the President toured the modern infrastructure and interacted with several patients. “President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Sir Ganga Ram Cancer Center in New Delhi, which aims to provide comprehensive care to cancer patients. During the visit, the President witnessed the state-of-the-art facilities and interacted with the patients,” her office shared on X.
A day prior, on Tuesday, President Murmu also met with Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The courtesy meeting included updates from the Governor on developmental activities in Sikkim and various public welfare initiatives by the Raj Bhavan. Governor Mathur also presented the President with a book titled "Utkarsh Yatra," documenting the highlights of his first six months in office.
