Puri, Ap 20: On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, preparations for world-famous Chandan Yatra have commenced, along with the ceremonial start of the construction of the Rath for the annual Rath Yatra.
The devotees, including Chapa Danga Nanda and Bhadra, have gathered at Narendra Pond, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the deities. To ensure smooth conduct of the Chandan Yatra, the district and police administration have put extensive arrangements in place.
Security measures include five platoons of police personnel, along with the supervision of an additional SP, five DSPs, eight inspectors, and twenty sub-inspectors, to manage the procession.
During the festival, moving deities-including Ramakrishna, Madanmohan, Sridevi, Bhudevi, and the Panchupandav will participate in boat rides) and water sports at Narendra Pond for 21 days starting today.
