Bhubaneswar, May 27: Leading Odia daily Prameya celebrated ‘World Hawkers Day 2026’ at its new office premises, recognising the invaluable contribution of newspaper distributors in connecting readers with daily news.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including CEO, Summa Real Media Pvt. Ltd. Sunil Das, Group Editor PrameyaNews7 Gopal Krishna Mohapatra, Working Editor News7 Deba Narayan Sethi, DGM (Circulation) Gajendra Das, and Bhubaneswar Bureau Head Debendra Suara and Prameya Digital Saroj Sahoo
Speaking on the occasion, the guests highlighted the crucial role played by hawkers in ensuring newspapers reach readers every day. They said distributors act as a vital bridge between the publication and its readers and praised their dedication and commitment despite various challenges.
The speakers noted that Prameya has always given priority and respect to its distributor network since its inception. “This day is dedicated to you. We have a lot to learn from your hard work and perseverance. You are our pride,” the guests said.
On the occasion, 13 distributors were felicitated by the Prameya family, including two young distributors. Those honoured included Pabitra Mohan Mahapatra, Bhagirathi Das, Dillip Das, Ashok Patra, Chakradhar Behera, Basanta Kumar Das, Manmohan Bhanj, Nilamani Sahu, Tarun Sahu, Santosh Panda, Purnachandra Khatei, Sampad Sahu and Dillip Jena.
The distributors were presented with mementoes, bouquets and certificates of appreciation.
Expressing their gratitude, the distributors said they are the backbone of the newspaper industry and often their hard work goes unnoticed. They thanked the Prameya family for organising the special programme in recognition of their efforts.
