Berhampur, October 2: Electricity supply has been restored to Aska urban area in Ganjam district following severe flooding caused by Cyclone Arnab and subsequent heavy rainfall, bringing relief to residents and business establishments affected by the disruption.
Restoration teams worked round the clock to repair damaged electrical infrastructure and gradually normalise the power distribution network despite challenging ground conditions.
Aska witnessed extensive waterlogging, with several residential neighbourhoods, market areas and commercial establishments inundated. Accumulated mud and debris, submerged locations and damage to electrical infrastructure made restoration work particularly challenging. Teams were mobilised to undertake repair operations while strictly adhering to safety protocols.
To strengthen restoration efforts across its eight-district service area, TPSODL deployed around 6,500 personnel across southern Odisha. The workforce comprised senior officials, engineers, employees and skilled and unskilled project personnel, who were engaged in damage assessment, infrastructure repairs and restoration of electricity supply.
The large-scale operation was supported by around 400 vehicles, six mobile distribution substations and 16 transit stores to ensure the timely movement of personnel, equipment and essential materials to affected locations.
Dedicated teams worked across different divisions, coordinating restoration activities and addressing infrastructure damage to ensure the gradual resumption of normal electricity supply.
The restoration of power in Aska urban area marks a significant step towards bringing normalcy to the flood-affected region, while TPSODL continues its restoration efforts across southern Odisha.
