New Delhi/Bhubaneswar, October 8: Political leaders across the country expressed grief over the reported demise of veteran actor and Padma Shri awardee Nana Patekar, remembering his remarkable contribution to Indian cinema and his commitment to social causes.

President of IndiaDroupadi Murmu expressed deep sorrow over Patekar’s passing, saying that the veteran actor brought a wide range of human experiences to life through his powerful and evocative performances. The President said Patekar portrayed characters that left a lasting impression on audiences and highlighted his commitment to social service and concern for the underprivileged. The President conveyed heartfelt condolences to Patekar’s family and admirers, describing his death as a great loss to Indian cinema.

 

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo paid tribute to the legendary actor, recalling his unforgettable performances in films including Parinda, Krantiveer, Prahaar, Ab Tak Chhappan and the arathi classic Natsamrat. Singh Deo said Patekar’s artistry was matched by his compassion and highlighted his work for farmers through the Naam Foundation. He described Patekar as a true icon whose voice and presence had defined an era of Indian cinema and extended condolences to his family, admirers and the many people whose lives he touched.

 

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida also expressed deep sorrow over Patekar’s demise. In her condolence message, she said the veteran actor had carved out a distinct identity in the Indian film industry through his exceptional acting talent and memorable performances. She prayed for the departed soul to attain eternal peace and conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the actor’s countless admirers.

 

In a separate message marking Indian Air Force Day, Parida paid tribute to the country’s Air Warriors, saluting their courage, valour and unwavering dedication in guarding India’s skies.

The tributes from the political leadership underscored Patekar’s lasting legacy in Indian cinema as well as his contributions beyond the screen.
