Police seize 121 vehicles in Bhubaneswar for flouting traffic rules, 44 arrested

Bhubaneswar, June 24: As many as 121 vehicles were seized during checking-and-blocking drive by Commissionerate police in Bhubaneswar on Saturday night for violating traffic rules. 

Police also arrested 44 persons on charges of drunk driving during the special drive. The Commissionerate Police on Saturday night conducted checking-and-blocking at 50 places in the capital city of Odisha. The two traffic police stations and 24 police stations were involved in the drive.

Bhubaneswar Traffic Police Station – I seized eight four-wheelers and two two-wheelers and Traffic Police Station – II seized 16 four-wheelers and six two-wheelers, including BMW, Mercedes, Mahindra THAR, JEEP Compass, Safari and other SUVs. The prosecution report of the seized vehicles have been submitted before the court, said police.

Tyres of 32 vehicles (24 cars and 8 bikes) got flat in the spike barrier laid on road while trying to give police a slip during the checking by taking U-turn before the blocking spot, police added.
