Puri, Oct 22: Police raided a community hall in Nuabalia village under Chandanpur police station limits in Puri district on Thursday morning following information about an alleged gambling session.

Acting on the tip-off, a police team rushed to the spot and conducted the raid. While some people fled after seeing the police, others allegedly attacked the police team.

No police personnel were injured in the incident. However, police detained several people at the police station for questioning.

As there were apprehensions of tension in the village, police personnel were deployed in the area. Sadar SDPO and the inspector-in-charge of Chandannpur police station were also present to monitor the situation.

Playing cards and suspected intoxicating substances were reportedly found inside the community hall. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
