Balugaon, May 19: A serious allegation of police brutality has surfaced from Khajipalli village under Balugaon police limits. Panchanan Patra has accused three police constables of physically assaulting him, leaving him with severe injuries on his thighs and legs.

According to the complaint, on April 16, some local youths had allegedly assaulted Patra’s family members. He had lodged a complaint at the police station, leading to the registration of a case, but the accused were later released. About a month later, during another face-to-face encounter in the village, Patra reportedly confronted the same youths and was verbally abused.

Following this, he alleges that three police constables visited his home, forcibly took him to a nearby shed in Marupalli, and physically assaulted him with a plastic pipe. Patra has stated his intention to formally complain to the Ganjam Superintendent of Police regarding the incident.

Local police officials confirmed that the SDPO is investigating the matter and have assured that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
