PM Modi to embark on two-day visit to Gujarat, inaugurate projects worth Rs 82,000 cr

Ahmedabad, May 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to his home state Gujarat starting Monday and inaugurate development projects worth Rs 82,000 crore.

As per the schedule, PM Modi will inaugurate two new trains – Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Express and the Valsad-Dahod Express via video conferencing from Dahod during his first visit to the state following Operation Sindoor.

He will first visit Dahod, where he will inaugurate the Loco Manufacturing Shop-Rolling Stock Workshop.

After that, he will speak to the public in Kharod, Dahod, and lay the foundation for railway and other government projects worth Rs 24,000 crore.

He will also launch the Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Express train, which will run between Sabarmati and Veraval, which is near the famous Somnath temple. The train will have eight coaches and will run six days a week, except on Thursdays.

It is expected to greatly benefit pilgrims and tourists travelling to Somnath, one of Gujarat’s most prominent pilgrimage destinations.

PM Modi will also launch the Somnath–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat train. In Dahod, he will also inaugurate a new railway production unit that was built under the ‘Make in India’ initiative at a cost of over Rs 21,000 crore.

The second train is the Valsad-Dahod Express, which will run every day between Valsad and Dahod. It will have 17 coaches and travel 346 kilometers. The train will leave Valsad at 5:50 a.m.

According to a statement, PM Modi will inaugurate a new locomotive manufacturing plant in Dahod on Monday. He will also flag off an electric locomotive from there.

After that, he will travel to Bhuj to launch several development projects worth over Rs 53,400 crore and address public gatherings in both Dahod and Bhuj.

He will also launch four drinking water improvement group water supply schemes built at a cost of Rs 181 crore. These projects will provide clean drinking water at 100 litres per person per day to around 4.62 lakh people in 193 villages and one town in Mahisagar and Dahod districts.

In Bhuj, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate various projects worth over Rs 53,000 crore. These include upgrades at Kandla Port, new solar power plants, power transmission lines, and road construction. Districts that will benefit include Kutch, Jamnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Ahmedabad, Tapi, and Mahisagar.

Later in the evening, at 7:30 p.m., he will lead a 3-kilometre roadshow from Ahmedabad Airport to Indira Bridge. More than 50,000 BJP workers and citizens are expected to join in welcoming him. He will stay overnight at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar.

On the morning of May 27, at 10:30 a.m., he will lead another 2-kilometre roadshow in Gandhinagar, where over 30,000 BJP workers are expected to take part.

After the roadshow, PM Modi will visit Mahatma Mandir to launch and lay the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 5,536 crore.

He will also inaugurate 22,055 homes built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, costing Rs 1,006 crore. In addition, he will lay the foundation for Phase-3 of the Sabarmati Riverfront project, being developed at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore.

Under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, Rs 3,300 crore in cheques will be given to urban local bodies to support development.
