Bhubaneswar, Jan 5: The Ama Bus run by the Capital Region Uraban Transport (CRUT) in the Twin-Cities has now been a talk of the town for its rash driving and frequent accidents.

While a massive public outrage was on the rise over the reckless driving of the Ama Bus pilots and the arrogance of crew members now &then, the Rupali Square incident on Saturday escalated the situation putting a scar mark on the CRUT services.

In order to regain public confidence and rebuild faith of commuters on the CRUT & Ama Bus services, the crew members of the organization on Monday administered oaths for safe and responsible driving in the coming days. Meanwhile, the Ama Bus piliots and staffers pledged to saying no to speeding and drunk-driving.

According to the CRUT authorities, the Ama Bus drivers and other staff across Odisha, including Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, were administered a detailed safety pledge at Ama Bus depots before vehicles are released on their respective routes. Through this oath, crew members committed to strictly adhering to road safety rules and regulations.

As part of this initiative, the ‘Ama Bus’ drivers and crew members vowed that public safety is their motto , aiming to prevent further loss of lives and restore public confidence in the service.

They pledged not to drive at excessive speeds, not to operate vehicles under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicating substances, and to refrain from using mobile phones while driving.

The pledge also includes to avoid wrong-side driving, to use seat belts, and to ensure disciplined and cautious driving at all times.

Worth mentioning, the Odisha State Transport Authorities (STA) & Twin-Cities Commissionerate of Police have also intensified crack down on the Ama Buses, following the recent death of an auto-rickshaw driver under an Ama Bus at the Rupali Square.
