New Delhi, September 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge after the latter fell ill during a rally in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua on Sunday.
Mallikarjun Kharge, 83, experienced mild discomfort while addressing the public in the Jasrota area due to extreme heat but managed to complete his speech before being taken to the hospital. After receiving treatment, Kharge was discharged and assured supporters that his condition was stable.
Kharge, showing his resolve, told the crowd, "I am not going to die so early... I will live until PM Modi is removed from power." His son, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, confirmed on social media that his father was well, apart from experiencing slightly low blood pressure.
The incident took place during the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, which are being held in three phases, marking the first elections since the abrogation of Article 370. The final phase of polling is set for 1 October, with vote counting on 8 October.
