Alipurduar, May 29 (WB): Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp critique of the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government during a rally in Alipurduar on Thursday.

He claimed that West Bengal urgently needs to be freed from what he described as “politics of violence, appeasement, riots, and corruption,” asserting that the people of the state are increasingly looking towards the BJP's model of development.

Addressing the crowd, PM Modi outlined what he called five major crises affecting West Bengal under TMC rule-widespread violence and anarchy, threats to the safety of women, with reports of heinous crimes, despair and unemployment among the youth, declining trust in governance, and self-serving politics that allegedly deprives the poor of their rights.

Modi accused the TMC government of failing the youth and damaging the state's education system, referencing the teacher recruitment scam as an example of deep-rooted corruption.

"The future of lakhs of students is at risk due to the absence of teachers. Yet, the government refuses to admit its mistakes and instead blames the judiciary," he said.

The Prime Minister also condemned recent incidents of violence in Murshidabad and Malda, describing them as instances of lawlessness encouraged under the guise of appeasement.

"Houses are being burned by party goons while police remain silent spectators. This is not governance, this is brutality," he remarked.

He further accused the TMC government of discriminating against tribals, Dalits, backward classes, and women, saying the administration had blocked access to key welfare schemes like Ayushman Bharat and housing programs. "The poor are being denied basic facilities because TMC leaders demand commissions," he alleged.

Criticizing the TMC’s political priorities, Modi pointed out that the West Bengal government skipped the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting in Delhi. "TMC is busy playing politics around the clock instead of focusing on development. Sixteen major infrastructure projects have been stalled in the state," he said.
