Bhogapuram, Aug 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, a landmark ₹4,592-crore infrastructure project expected to transform connectivity and economic growth in Andhra Pradesh's Uttarandhra region.

Developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, the airport features state-of-the-art passenger terminals and sustainable infrastructure, including renewable energy systems and rainwater harvesting facilities. The airport has an annual capacity to handle six million passengers, significantly strengthening the region's aviation network.

The inauguration was attended by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, both of whom described the airport as a major catalyst for employment, industrial development, tourism, and investment in north coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Commercial flight operations from the new airport are scheduled to begin on August 17, marking a new chapter in the state's transport infrastructure.

During the event, Prime Minister Modi also dedicated several key road projects to the nation and laid the foundation stone for a semiconductor manufacturing plant, highlighting the Centre's focus on strengthening infrastructure and promoting high-tech industries in the state.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed a large public gathering, cultural performances, and enthusiastic celebrations, reflecting the significance of the project for the region's future development.
