PM Modi Receives Brazil's Highest Honour
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Brazil’s highest civilian honour, the Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross, on Tuesday. The prestigious award was presented by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in recognition of the Prime Minister's efforts to deepen the relationship between the two nations.
This award marks the 26th international honour conferred upon Prime Minister Modi by a foreign government since he took office in 2014.
A Recognition of Stronger Ties
The award acknowledges Mr. Modi's significant contributions to enhancing cooperation between India and Brazil on both regional and global issues. During a joint press statement, the Prime Minister described the honour as a moment of immense pride for the 140 crore people of India. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Lula and the people of Brazil.
Mr. Modi also highlighted President Lula's foundational role in building the India-Brazil strategic partnership. He stated that the award reflects the collective efforts to elevate the relationship between the two countries.
In a later social media post, the Prime Minister said the award symbolized the deep affection the people of Brazil hold for India. He expressed hope that the friendship between the two nations would continue to grow stronger. The honour serves as a powerful symbol of the warm and friendly ties that India and Brazil share.
