Puri, Sept 22: A Panchayat Executive Officer(PEO) and a Gram Rozgar Sevak(GRS) of Kanas Panchayat Samiti in Odisha’s Puri were held by vigilance on Monday for embezzlement of govt. funds over Rs 21.98 lakh.
The accused persons were identified asTuna Pradhan, PEO and Sagar Kumar Das, GRS.
The Odisha Vigilance took them to custody for misappropriation of Govt. money amounting to Rs.21.98 lakhs meant for Old Age Pension (OAP) and Madhubabu Pension Yojana ( MBPY) without distributing the same amongst the beneficiaries.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No.20/2025 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(a) of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018/316(5)/61(2) BNS has been registered against the duo, said a press release issued by the Vigilance.
