Balangir, Sept 3:Former Crime Branch IG Arun Bothra, deposed before the Additional District Judge (ADJ), Patnagarh on Tuesday in connection with the 2018 parcel bomb explosion case that claimed two lives, including a newlywed groom in Odisha’s Balangir.
IG Bothra, who took up the investigation of the case from the Balangir police, cracked the mystery surrounding the parcel bomb explosion and arrested the prime accused, identified as Punjilal Meher.
Bothra, amid his deposition presented the records of investigation before the court including the Case Diary (CD) and the video footage featuring the crime scene recreation.
The next hearing is scheduled for September 11.
The heart wrenching incident dates back to February 23, 2018, when one Soumyasekhar Sahoo and his grandmother were killed in the explosion during a marriage ceremony. Soumyasekhar’s wife, Reema Sahoo, sustained critical burn injuries in the incident.
