New Delhi, Aug 5: Parliament on Tuesday gave its nod to extend President’s Rule in Manipur for an additional six months, beyond the current term ending on August 13.
The statutory resolution, initially cleared by the Lok Sabha last week, received approval from the Rajya Sabha as well. The proceedings in the Upper House, however, witnessed disruptions, with Opposition MPs raising concerns over the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar.
Despite the uproar, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh emphasized that passing the resolution was a “constitutional obligation.”
