Cuttack, May 3: Over 90 metal snakes along with idols of Durga, Shiva, Ganesh, Saraswati, and three conch shells were recovered from the Mahanadi River near Sanmundali village.
The recovery follows an incident last Saturday when some children went to the river for fishing and found a Durga idol caught in their net. Later, along with local resident Manas Behera, the children retrieved several metal snake bars and other religious idols that were tied in bundles and submerged in the river. These items were later placed in the Jagannath temple in the village.
Being informed, police arrived at the scene after being informed and have taken the recovered items into their custody for further investigation.
