New Delhi, September 15: The Income Tax Department announced on Monday that over 7 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) had been filed by evening, as the filing deadline for Assessment Year 2025-26 rapidly approached. However, many netizens raised complaints about glitches on the I-T department's e-filing portal, particularly regarding issues with filing and advance tax payments.

The e-filing platform experienced heavy traffic on Monday, the final day for ITR submissions, coinciding with the last date for paying the second quarterly instalment of advance tax for the current fiscal year.

In response to the growing concerns, the Income Tax Department released a troubleshooting guide later in the evening to help users resolve browser-related issues. The department assured that following these steps would typically address most local access problems encountered by filers.
