Hyderabad, March 6: A bomb scare at the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) office in Hyderabad was confirmed to be a hoax after a thorough search revealed no explosives. The threat, which was sent via email early on Friday morning, claimed that 14 RDX bombs had been planted at the IMD office.

Srinivas, a scientist at the IMD, explained that the department received the bomb threat email at around 7 a.m. The message warned that bombs would explode in the afternoon. The IMD immediately alerted the head office, local police, and the bomb squad. By 10 a.m., the bomb squad had arrived and conducted a detailed search of the premises, but no explosives were found, confirming the threat to be a hoax.

"We received the threat from an unknown email ID, claiming bombs had been placed in the Meteorological Centre and would detonate in the afternoon. We immediately informed the authorities, including the head office and the bomb squad. After a thorough search, we found nothing," Srinivas told ANI.

Begumpet Police also confirmed the incident, with a police official stating that they had registered a case following the bomb threat email. "The bomb squad and the dog squad were dispatched to the IMD office for a thorough check. No suspicious items were found," the official said. The investigation is ongoing.

In a separate incident on February 26, the Warangal District Court received a similar bomb threat email. Police responded swiftly, deploying bomb squad teams to inspect the court premises. However, after conducting a detailed search, no dangerous materials were found. Police have also registered a case and are continuing their investigation into the matter.

Warangal's Subedari Station Inspector, Ranjit Kumar, stated, "After receiving the bomb threat email, we, along with the bomb disposal team, thoroughly searched the court premises. No suspicious items were found. The investigation is ongoing."
