Indian Tri-Services Conduct Coordinated 'Operation Sindoor' Against Terror Hubs

In a significant military development, India's Army, Navy, and Air Force executed a coordinated assault, codenamed "Operation Sindoor," in the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, May 7th. Jointly targeting nine identified terrorist infrastructure sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This joint tri-services operation against Pakistan marks the first such large-scale coordinated action since the 1971 war and was undertaken in direct retaliation for the April 22nd terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives.

Operational Details and Targets

The strikes commenced precisely at 1:44 AM, employing precision-guided munitions and loitering drones (kamikaze drones) to engage the designated locations. Defence sources confirmed the operation focused exclusively on terror infrastructure used for planning and directing attacks against India. The targeted sites included facilities associated with major terrorist organizations: four Jaish-e-Mohammed sites (including Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur and camps in Kotli and Muzaffarabad); three Lashkar-e-Taiba locations (including Markaz Taiba in Muridke and camps in Barnala and Muzaffarabad); and two Hizbul Mujahideen facilities (in Kotli and Sialkot).

India's Stance and Diplomatic Outreach

The Indian military has officially stated that the operation was a "calibrated, non-escalatory action" and that no Pakistani military or civilian installations were targeted. An Indian Army statement emphasized, "Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature...India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution." Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly monitored the operation throughout the night. Following the strikes, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval briefed his US counterpart, NSA and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, providing a detailed account of India's actions and reaffirming New Delhi's commitment to combating cross-border terrorism.

"Operation Sindoor" represents a robust and coordinated retaliatory measure by India's armed forces in response to the Pahalgam attack. By employing joint tri-services capabilities and precision weaponry against specific terror-related targets, India has signalled a strong message. At the same time maintaining that its actions were designed to be limited and non-escalatory, aimed solely at disrupting terrorist operations.
