Bhubaneswar, March 30: A second individual was arrested on Sunday in connection with the assault on police personnel during the Congress' Vidhan Sabha gherao protest, according to police officials.

The arrested individual, identified as 24-year-old Chandan Sahoo, is a resident of Haripur under the Jatni police jurisdiction but was staying in the Kharvelanagar area of Bhubaneswar.

Previously, Mirza Islam Baig, a resident of Haridhashpur near Pahala on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, was also taken into custody. Both Sahoo and Baig have been charged with rioting, criminal intimidation, and several other offenses, as stated by a senior police officer.
