One killed, another critically injured in head-on motorcycle collision in Nimapara

Nimapara, July 24: A tragic road accident near Badrakhol, close to Jhampulakuda on the Gopa main road in Nimapara, claimed the life of one person and left another critically injured on Wednesday.

According to eyewitness accounts, the accident took place when a motorcycle coming from Gopa attempted to overtake a four-wheeler. During the manoeuvre, it collided head-on with another motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction.

One of the riders, identified as 30-year-old Debashish Panda from Barimunda village under Bamanal panchayat in Nimapada block, succumbed to his injuries on the spot due to the severe impact of the collision.

The other motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was rushed by local residents to the Nimapara Community Health Centre. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to a hospital in Bhubaneswar for advanced medical care.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The tragic crash has once again raised concerns over reckless overtaking and road safety measures in the region.
