Bhubaneswar, October 17: Odisha Vigilance officials on Saturday arrested a superintending engineer (SE) after seizing unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 21.88 lakh from his possession, officials said.

The arrested officer was identified as Prasanjit Das, who was serving in the Mahanadi Northern Division of the Water Resources Department and was posted in Cuttack.

Das was booked under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, on allegations of demanding bribes from contractors.

Acting on credible inputs, a team of Odisha Vigilance officials had been closely monitoring Das’s movements and activities before taking action against him.
