OMFED milk gets costlier by Rs 4 in Odisha

Recently, the OMFED has announced a hike of Rs 1 per litre in the milk procurement price for dairy farmers across the State. The revised rate came into effect from May 1, 2026.

OMFED milk gets costlier by Rs 4 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 3: Prices of the state-run Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) milk of all variants have been increased by Rs 4 per litre from May 3.

As per the revised rate, Toned Milk price has been increased by Rs 4 per litre, rising from Rs 50 to Rs 54 per litre while Premium Milk has also seen a Rs 4 hike, with the price going up from Rs 54 to Rs 58 per litre.

Gold Premium Plus milk will now cost Rs 64 per litre, up from Rs 60. Similarly, Gold Premium Milk has been revised from Rs 56 to Rs 60 per litre, marking a Rs 4 increase.

Meanwhile, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallick said that the price has been hiked keeping in view the increase in the costs of processing and transportation.

“The milk prices have not been revised for a long time. For the benefit of farmers, we will purchase milk at a higher price. Compared to other branded companies, Omfed’s price is still considerably lower. On average, the price has been increased by about Rs 2 per half liter. However, there will be no compromise in the quality. Farmers will benefit from this. More milk will be procured from farmers,” said Mallick.

With this revision, farmers is now getting Rs 39.05 per litre, up from the earlier Rs 38.05 per litre. The increase comes in response to growing demand from farmers amid rising costs of feed, fodder, medicines, and maintenance.
