Bhubaneswar, May 1: The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has increased the milk procurement price by ₹1 per litre in a move aimed at boosting the income of dairy farmers.
With the revision, farmers supplying milk to OMFED will now receive ₹39.05 per litre, up from the earlier ₹38.05 per litre. The new rate will come into effect from May 1, 2026, according to an official statement.
The decision comes amid rising input costs, including expenses on fodder, cattle feed, grass and medicines, which have been impacting milk production. OMFED said the price hike is part of its ongoing efforts to financially empower dairy farmers.
Approximately 3 lakh dairy farmers associated with OMFED across the state are expected to benefit from the increase. Farmers have welcomed the move and expressed satisfaction over the revised rates.
