Bhubaneswar: The penultimate day of the J30 Bhubaneswar ITF World Tennis Tour unfolded with high-stakes semifinal action and a celebratory atmosphere at the Kalinga Stadium here on Friday. Local star Sohini Sanjay Mohanty and top seed Om Patel advanced to the singles finals, while champions were crowned in both Boys’ and Girls’ Doubles.
In Boys' Singles, Om Patel continued his flawless run, easing past Amit Moond in straight sets. His final challenge will come from Shivtej Shirfule, who came through a dramatic three-setter, edging out fifth seed Hruthik Katakam in a thrilling 10-point tiebreak.
On the Girls' side, crowd favourite Sohini Sanjay Mohanty fought hard against Disha Kumar, eventually sealing a three-set victory to earn her place in the final. Her opponent, Aleena Farid, progressed by walkover after Aahan was unable to compete.
The day’s spotlight also shone on the Doubles Finals, where Om Patel and Om Verma claimed the Boys’ Doubles title with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 win over Aarush Bhalla and Dev Nandasana. In Girls' Doubles, Aleena Farid and Angel Patel secured the crown by defeating Avipsha Dehury and Shreeniti Chowdhury 6-4, 6-1.
The doubles champions and runners-up were felicitated in a grand prize distribution ceremony attended by Dr. Satyajit Mohanty, Secretary of the Odisha Tennis Association, Sanjeeb Panda, Tournament Director and Joint Secretary of OTA, ITF Supervisor Prabin Kumar Nayak, and other esteemed members of OTA.
