Bhubaneswar, May 6: The Odisha Home Department will begin statewide civil defence mock drills from Wednesday, aiming to train citizens for emergency situations like enemy air attacks.
The drills will run for a week across 12 districts, including Khordha, Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Sundargarh.
At a high-level meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan, officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrata Sahu and DGP Fire Services Sudhansu Sarangi, discussed strategies for effective coordination, public awareness, and response mechanisms.
Air raid sirens will be sounded to simulate attacks, and citizens will be guided to take shelter in designated safe zones.
Over 4,000 Apada Mitras, civil defence volunteers, and personnel from OSDMA, NCC, and NSS will participate in the drills. Emergency Response Centres at state and district levels will also be activated during the exercise.
