Odisha weather update: Thunderstorm alert issued for several districts

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued a thunderstorm warning for multiple districts in Odisha, effective for three days starting today.

According to the forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected, particularly in the southern parts of the state, continuing through the morning of April 23.

Forecast details:

April 20 (Today) — Yellow Warning:
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph are likely to occur during the afternoon and evening at isolated places in the following districts: Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal.

 April 21–22 — Yellow Warning:
Similar thunderstorm conditions are expected at isolated places in: Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada.

April 22–23 — Yellow Warning:
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also likely in: Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam.

Temperature outlook:

No significant change in maximum (daytime) temperatures is expected over the next three days. However, a gradual rise in temperature—by around 2 to 4°C—is likely thereafter across many districts.
