Odisha weather forecast predicts heavy fog and steady winter chill across various districts

Expect low visibility and misty mornings across Odisha this week

Dry weather continues to dominate the landscape of Odisha, but residents should prepare for significant visibility challenges over the next 48 hours. According to the latest data from the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, a thick blanket of fog is expected to settle over several regions, particularly during the early morning hours.

Dense Fog Alerts and Visibility Concerns

The weather department has issued a "Dense Fog" warning for the next two days. Specifically, on Day 1 and Day 2, isolated pockets within districts like Chandbali, Paradip, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara are likely to experience visibility levels between 50 and 200 meters.

Other areas, including Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Cuttack, are expected to see shallow to moderate fog. While the intensity is predicted to subside from Day 3 to Day 7, commuters are advised to exercise caution during the early hours when misty conditions are most prevalent.

Temperature Trends Across the State

Despite the foggy start to the days, night temperatures are not expected to see any drastic fluctuations. The IMD indicates that minimum temperatures (night temperatures) will remain consistent over the next 6 to 7 days.

Currently, the plains of Odisha are seeing a wide range of temperatures. Dhenkanal recorded the highest maximum at 31.8°C, while Phulbani remains one of the coldest spots in the plains at 10.5°C. For those in the high-altitude regions, G. Udayagiri remains the coldest overall, with a chilling minimum of 6.8°C recorded at its AMFU station.

Capital City Outlook

In the Twin Cities, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are experiencing mild winter conditions. Bhubaneswar recently recorded a high of 31.2°C and a low of 16.8°C, accompanied by shallow fog reducing visibility to roughly 800 meters. Cuttack remains slightly cooler at night with a minimum of 15.6°C and clearer skies.

With no major rainfall on the horizon, the state will continue to experience dry, misty, and stable winter weather through the first week of February.
